problem when deleting theme(s) other users may be using
Published on October 11, 2005 By Yau Calabi In WindowBlinds
I tried to search the forums but could not find anything on this. This only refers to windowblinds installations on multi-user systems. We have 5 accounts on our main PC at home and at any given time each user may be using a different windowblinds skin.

To keep things reasonably clean I will from time to time go in and delete older skins I do not think anyone is using. Well, it happened again the other day when I deleted a skin my son was actively using. Of course, when he logged on all his title bars were gone and trying to bring up display properties resulted in fatal errors and we could not access it.

IMHO a simple solution would be to NOT ALLOW a skin being used to be deleted. This need has been present in all previous versions of windowblinds as far as I know since it has happened 2-3 times previously too.

Thanks for listening,

p.s. this also carried over into my account when I tried to access display properties I got the same error - had to unload windowblinds first to even access display propeties.

The problem is WB only knows what skin the current account is using, not what other accounts are using.  Windows security prevents WB from finding out.

all they have to do is make a general registry entry of, say like, "SkinsInUse", and have it record the number of users, and what skin they are using, then before a preson can delete a skin, a msgbox will pop up, letting them know that User So and So is using the skin, and that it cant let them delete it.

Simple Registry editing and VB can do this, why cant the do this for WB?

would this apply to any windows account - even if it is not passworded?
